Leon Wall Plate Hook PDF Print E-mail

Leon De Oro Nets (UK) Limited have launched a new housebuild safety net attachment system that provides protection for roofing activities including truss installation, felting, battening and tiling.

It provides a reliable safety net anchorage system, yet remains in place during roof construction, thus protecting joiners and roofers.

The use of safety nets is widely accepted as being the most flexible means of protecting joiners building and working on roofs. The health and safety authorities are comfortable with their use and those trained in rigging adopt the skills very well.

Leon De Oro's Wall Plate Hook consists of a hook, strap and easy-to-use tensioning system. It has been designed to be as flexible as tie cords for net adjustment, eaves bagging, corner and recess dressing.

This means that perimeter gaps can be easily avoided.

Unlike other proprietary hook systems which require hooks to be placed at 500mm centres, the average house type only requires about 20 Hooks. The Wallplate Hook is simply placed on the wallplate at about 1.7m centres. The strap is passed down the facing brickwork and secured to the scaffolding. Once the strap is tensioned, the net is rigged by placing the border cord and selvage into the hook. In the event of a fall at this stage, the load is transferred away from the blockwork and to the scaffolding. There is no need to temporarily brace opposing walls.

One product feedback is listed below:

"When our joiners have finished bracing and spiking the trusses, stability is provided to the opposing walls. The strap is then removed and laid into the net, which means the soffits and facias can be fixed, allowing the roof tiler to commence work - with the safety net in place. Once all works at height are completed, the safety net and Wallplate Hooks are removed from inside the building"
